Having additional training and obtaining more qualifications is something you should consider to secure a definite advantage over other job seekers. This is why if you are looking to fill in an accounting position at any Australian workplace, you should study Professional Year Accounting.

What is the Professional Year Program?
The Professional Year Program is a 44-week program promoted by the Australian Department of Immigration and Border Protection to address the country's skills shortage in the fields of accounting, engineering, and information technology.

The Professional Year Program Accounting, in particular, is designed to help accounting professionals and international students who graduated with an accounting degree from an Australian school or university improve their qualifications and employability. It offers them job readiness training and a 12-week internship placement at an Australian company, allowing them to develop the skills and knowledge they require to make the most of good job opportunities in Australia.

This accounting program has the approval and support of various accounting organisations in Australia. They include CPA Australia, Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand and the Institute of Public Accountants.

Who Are Qualified to Take Part in the Program?

A Graduate (Temporary) Visa (subclass 485) is also needed before you can take part in the program, as well as a Migration Skills Assessment, or an evidence of your application, from an association of accounting professionals.

What Are the Benefits?
Apart from improving your employability by equipping you with important skills sets and knowledge in the field of accounting, completing the program can also help you if you wish to live permanently in Australia. Successfully completing the program will allow you to receive additional migration points towards your application for permanent residency visa.

In addition, the Professional Year Program can provide you with the opportunity to join relevant professional bodies and industry related workshops and events that will benefit your career. It will also help you better understand the Australian workplace, which will help you thrive and stay motivated.
